Education doesn’t end outside the classroom, children are continuously learning from their surroundings and experiences. The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom states that ‘that the most meaningful learning occurs through acquiring knowledge and skills through real-life, practical or hands-on activities’. Therefore, in order to deliver a successful and thorough learning experience for students, education providers need to account for how their education will extend past the lesson plans.

As part of the Cognita and Active Learning Group family, Ardmore programmes are supplemented with a huge number of exciting outdoor activities that enable students to put their learning into action, develop connections with international students from around the globe and explore the world around them. In this blog, we’ll be taking a closer look at these activities and examining the benefits they present students.

On our residential courses, Ardmore students often get the opportunity to visit prominent landmarks on excursions. Students get to explore these areas and engage with the history and culture of the language they’re learning. Not only this, but they get the opportunity to speak with locals, putting everything they’ve learnt so far into practice.

The benefits of taking students on these trips are:

  • Immerse themselves in the culture
  • Put theoretical learning into practice
  • Make memories

We’re so proud to be offering these exciting opportunities, as lessons can be learnt in so many places. In general, taking learning outside the classroom can help improve young people’s understanding, skills and social development, but when learning a language getting students out and about is even more vital. Students can get practical understanding of the language and its applications, as well as bonding with students from other countries, the only common language between them being English. If you’re interested in working with Ardmore to offer these experiences to your clients, then please reach out to us.

Working with Active Learning Group, students on Ardmore courses in the UK can also join SuperCamps International over the Summer holidays. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to immerse themselves and integrate with other children around their age. They’ll form new relationships and be able to put the learning they’ve done inside the classroom into practice, as well as picking up the dialect from British speakers themselves.

The benefits of integrating children through these multi-activity camps are:

  • Confidence in social settings
  • Communication skills improved
  • Learn colloquial language
  • Integration with British children

Ardmore students can also visit Cuffley Camp. At our flagship outdoor learning centre, students will take part in outdoor activities to help bond with each other in a variety of ways, and while at first glance taking a leap of faith or tackling a ropes course may not seem like a necessary supplement to learning a new language, the benefits of it are undeniable. By taking part in new and daring activities, the students are able to bond, forming new relationships and helping their collaboration once they return to the classroom. From tackling a fear of heights to working together on solving puzzles, these experiences will stick with them for a lifetime.

The benefits of an integrating an Outdoor Adventure into your students’ learning are:

  • Confidence boost
  • New experiences
  • Collaboration
  • Better teamwork
