At Ardmore, continuous improvement is at the heart of everything we do. In our previous blog, we shared how we are evolving our approach to meet the changing needs of today’s students. Now, we’re excited to take a closer look at the latest developments shaping our academic programmes as we move towards 2026.
Education is changing – and so are the expectations of students. Traditional classroom-based lessons are no longer enough on their own. Today’s learners respond best to engaging, interactive experiences that feel relevant and purposeful.
That’s why we are shifting our focus towards learning through doing. In this new model, students work towards a daily task, supported by their teacher with the language and tools they need to succeed. This approach not only builds confidence but also ensures that learning is practical, meaningful, and immediately applicable.
Alongside this, we are expanding opportunities for students to use English beyond the classroom. Through our Active English approach, language learning becomes an integral part of the entire programme – encouraging students to practise naturally in a variety of real-life contexts.
At the core of our new academic approach is a structured yet flexible framework: Get Ready > Explore > Create.
Each lesson begins with a Creative Task, designed to spark curiosity and introduce useful, relevant language. Students then explore the language they need, guided by their teacher, before moving on to the create stage – where they apply what they’ve learned through communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
This process allows students to discover language as they need it, making learning more engaging and memorable. It also helps develop key life skills such as teamwork, decision-making, and critical thinking – all while building confidence in spoken English.
To support this approach, we have developed new course books for our year-round (non-summer) programmes, which are currently being successfully trialled. Feedback from both students and teachers has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are now preparing the next phase: developing new materials for our Summer 2026 programmes.
For many years, English language learning has been seen as something that happens primarily in the classroom, separate from the rest of the student experience. But we know that some of the most valuable learning happens outside of formal lessons.
Our Active English initiative is designed to change this. By embedding language use across all aspects of the programme – from activities and excursions to social interactions – we create more opportunities for students to practise English in authentic, meaningful ways.
This is not just a short-term change, but part of a long-term vision. Ardmore has launched a three-year plan to fully implement Active English across all centres. After a successful pilot phase in summer 2025 and across selected year-round programmes, we are now moving into Phase 2.
This next stage includes:
As we continue to develop our programmes, collaboration remains key. We are actively listening to feedback and ideas from across our community to ensure we are creating courses that are both effective and enjoyable.
Together, we are building a future-focused learning experience – one that prepares students not just for language success, but for real-world communication and global experiences.
We’re excited about what lies ahead.
